Artist Profile Mr. Michael Adejumo was born in 1952 in the City of Lagos, Nigeria, located on the west coast of Africa. He attended Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, Nigeria, an internationally recognized institution for Art studies. He relocated to the United States in 1977 and graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1984 with a Masters Degree in Planning with special studies in Art in Public Places and Economic Development. |
Mr. Adejumo has participated in numerous art exhibitions and art festivals within and outside the State of Florida. Among the art shows he has participated within the last ten years are the Mailou Art Festival Tampa, Florida, Zora Neale Hurston Art Festival, Eatonville, Florida. He won the first place in the watercolor category at the Zora Hurston Festival in January 2000. He participated in the Decor Atlanta International Art show. He has also participated in art show for the University of Oklahoma Annual Conference on Race and Ethnicity and Downtown Orlando Art Festival, Orlando, Florida. In 2001 he participated in the West Palm Beach Art Fest and Goombay Festival, Miami, Florida.
Mr Michael Adejumo will be exhibiting at the October Gallery's 16th Annual Philadelphia International Art Expo November 9-11, 2001 at the Liacouras Center Temple University Philadelphia, PA.
For the past 10 years, the Artist has developed a broad-based collectors of his originals, artist proofs, limited and open editions. The Artist currently works in watercolor and oil with specialization in African contemporary art. He hopes that his paintings will appeal to those who appreciates the importance of art in bridging cultural, ethnic and racial differences around the world.
Artist Statement
"The role of art is an important one for all who are concerned with the advancement of culture, civilization, thoughts and personalities. It also concerns the present generation whether they are interested in art for art's sake or for its decorativeness."
